Assessments in Special Education

Assessments (also referred to as "evaluations") are used to identify a student's strengths, weaknesses, present levels of performance, and progress. Assessments can provide valuable information regarding a child's academic performance, cognitive functioning,  social/emotional needs, and adaptive needs. School districts have a number of assessments they can administer, including but not limited to, psychoeducation, speech and language, and mental health.
